ESL Teacher (Grades: 5-6) Dallas Independent School District Responsibilities Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and provide written evidence of preparation. Prepare lessons accommodating different learning styles. Present subject matter in compliance with Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustees policies, and administrative regulations. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior. Establish a system of student evaluation following state law or district guidelines. Continuously evaluate and record student progress; report to parents as needed. Teach within the prescribed course of study for the subject area at the applicable grade level. Plan lessons that lead to subject area objectives and assume responsibility for written lesson plans for substitutes. Provide varied learning experiences using diverse media and methods to motivate students and optimize instructional time. Identify student needs and collaborate with staff to address health, attitude, and learning challenges. Offer counseling to students and parents before and after school. Interpret educational programs to the community through activities such as open houses and PTA meetings. Plan and coordinate the work of aides and paraprofessionals or student teachers as applicable. Cooperate with the principal to develop an evaluation system consistent with district guidelines. Maintain accurate student records; compile, maintain, and file necessary reports and documents. Perform other tasks and duties as assigned. Maintain regular and punctual attendance at the worksite. Establish efficient classroom management procedures. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and a valid Texas teacher certificate with required subject endorsements. Demonstrated general knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Knowledge of routine tasks, duties, and procedures plus the ability to follow specific instructions with little prior experience. Ability to establish and maintain efficient classroom management procedures. Flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing environment. Willingness to stay current with the latest developments in the profession. Work Environment The work environment is moderately noisy. Travel across the district is integral. This campus-based position does not allow remote work; regular and punctual attendance at the site is required.
