Haymarket Center is the largest not-for-profit community-based adult detoxification, residential, and outpatient substance abuse treatment facility in Chicago. Haymarket Center has continued to grow into a comprehensive alcohol and other drug treatment organization, licensed by the state of Illinois, which receives funding from the private sector, as well as city, county, state and federal agencies. The treatment programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitative Facilities (CARF).

RECOVERY SPECIALIST: Provides individual services to adult, substance-abusing men or women; assists clients in building recovery resources; and develops individual Recovery Plans that help clients enhance self-efficacy, maintain abstinence in treatment, and continue recovery post-treatment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Facilitate recovery education groups and document for each patient in attendance regarding case management needs. Carries caseload of less than 10.

•Work with clients to develop a Recovery Plan that addresses their comprehensive needs

•Implements Contingency Management in accordance with project protocols

•Use client-centered approaches to recovery planning

•Meet with clients at least once a week to ensure implementation of the Recovery Plan

•Assist clients in accessing other services, both on and off site, to meet their additional needs additional needs met by client and staff

•Link clients to recovery support services consistent with agency policy

•Accurately accounts for the whereabouts of each client by conducting an audit of client movement logs at minimum of 3 times per shift in accordance to policy and procedures.

•Collaborate with clients to engage family members in recovery planning

•Monitor client progress weekly via one on one session.

•Manage, track, and update individual recovery plans.

•Have strong documentation skills; this position requires extensive documentation of required activities; strong data entry skills (Carelogic) are also required.

•Good foundation in recovery skills and knowledge.

•Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Able to empathize with clients, focusing on and reinforcing positive strengths and behaviors

•Able to work with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds

•Comfortable working independently in community settings

•Able to work flexible hours

•Able to connect clients who have various needs to a range of community resources

•High School Diploma or equivalent

•Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field preferred

•Knowledge in substance abuse or related field

•Familiar with case management services and able to apply them to recovery management

•NCRS or CADC preferred.

•Good verbal and communication skills. Proficiency in reading and writing

•Good computer literacy is mandatory

•Have a valid Driver’s License, and be able to have driving privileges through agency’s insurance program
