Overview
Location: Dallas TX (Must be able to come into the Woodall office whenever needed and up to 3 times a week, Specific hours: 9Am to 5PM CST)
Contract: 12 months (with possibility of extension)
Role: Oracle Database Administrator with emphasis on Exadata and Oracle Data Guard/RAC, plus secondary PostgreSQL DBA responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience on Oracle 12c/18c/19c Database Administration
- Understand and resolve issues, mitigate risks and dependencies, and drive projects and resources to completion
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and documentation skills
- Actively participate in service improvement plans
- Drive critical issues and communicate effectively on conference calls
- Monitor overall process functioning and identify improvement areas
- Be on-call as required
- Strong analysis and problem-solving skills
- Experience working on production systems
- Basic knowledge of Solaris / Linux / Veritas Cluster
- Identify and drive automation areas and service improvement efforts
- Good scripting knowledge
- Collaborate with development teams during design sessions to provide performance and scaling inputs
Technical Skills Primary
- Extensive experience with Exadata Database Migration, Installation, Upgrades, and Patching
- Manage database objects like tablespace, users, indexes, roles, privileges, profiles, DB links, and synonyms
- Configuring and administering Oracle 12c, 18c and 19c
- Proficient in logical backup and recovery using Data Pump, Export/Import
- Strong experience in SQL and PL/SQL
- Performance tuning using AWR and Explain Plan
- Hands-on experience in database cloning
- Automatic Storage Management
- Initialization of parameters
- Experience in backup and recovery strategies planning using RMAN
- Extensive experience in database patching
- Upgrade of Oracle databases from 12c to 18c/19c
- Managing alerts and notifications
- Experience in partitioning of tables
- Cross-platform transportable tablespaces
- Knowledge of implementation, configuration, Data Guard / RAC (Real Application Clusters), troubleshooting
- Experience working with development teams during design sessions to provide performance and scaling inputs
- Troubleshooting Oracle database issues related to infrastructure components (application server, network, storage, OS)
- Exadata feature enablement, monitoring, review, and update placement strategy; working knowledge on Exadata
- Data Guard setup and management
- Experience with Exachk
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM13c)
- Patch/Upgrade and release management (database, storage node, server, network, Exadata)
- Develop and maintain system documentation related to Oracle Exadata and software configuration
- Apply process and architectural improvements to improve availability, capacity, and performance
- Extensive experience with Data Pump and Export/Import utilities
- Managing high-severity incident issues and calls
- Root Cause Analysis and problem tickets (proactive and reactive)
- Experience in DevOps/Agile environments is a plus
- Working knowledge of ITSM tools JIRA
Technical Skills Secondary PostgreSQL DBA
- Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems
- Monitor and optimize database performance for efficiency and reliability
- Manage database backup and recovery processes
- Ensure database security and policy compliance
- Collaborate with developers to design and optimize database schemas
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues promptly
- Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations
- Document database configurations, processes, and procedures
