Google Cloud Platform Engineer (Mid)

M9 Solutions is seeking a Google Cloud Platform Engineer (Mid) to work in a hybrid environment for a client located in Ashburn, VA. A Public Trust clearance is required.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud.
• Manage core Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services, including Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), subnets, firewalls, and routing tables.
• Configure and maintain GCP storage solutions like Cloud Storage, Filestore, and Persistent Disk.
• Oversee identity and access management (IAM) to ensure the principle of least privilege is applied.
• Manage and operate cloud-native database services, such as Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, and Bigtable, including performance tuning and high-availability configuration.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize infrastructure costs.
• Manage container orchestration platforms such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Collaborate with development teams to ensure their applications have the necessary infrastructure resources.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Cloud Deployment Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 6+ years of working with Cloud technologies.
• 1+ years of experience working directly with applications or resources in Google Cloud.
• Proven experience as a Platform, Cloud, or Infrastructure Engineer.
• Deep, hands-on experience with foundational GCP services, including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, and VPC.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, firewalls, and VPNs within a cloud environment.
• Experience with infrastructure such as code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform).
• GCP certification (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect) is a plus.
• Experience with scripting tools such as Bash and Python.
• Experience with Git, GitLab, Jenkins, or Harness.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements.
