About the role:

We are looking for an accounting student to join our corporate accounting team as an intern. The opportunity will provide a real-world experience at an international wood pellet company. Under the supervision of the accounting team, the accounting intern will participate in various activities to support the month-end close process, account reconciliations, supporting tax analysts with audit queries, and other accounting activities as required.

• Assisting with the month-end close process, including the posting of specific manual journals
• Assisting with the preparation of financial reporting for the Southern pellet operations
• Preparation / review of key monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with other tasks as needed: tax compliance, audit support, forecasting, monthly and annual financial reporting
• Ensure financial controls are well established and well understood
• Support the Finance Manager with the co-ordination and execution of business-unit wide projects, relating to changes in accounting standards or changes in the way in which the business operates

Who we’re looking for:

To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have…

• Must either be enrolled and in the process of completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
• Proficient with computers and different finance software programs, including a strong knowledge of excel
• Must have effective written and verbal communication skills to build string interpersonal relationships
• Have strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work without distraction
• Must have completed introductory accounting courses and have a basic understanding of financial principles
• Be an excellent team player.
• Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels both within and outside the organization.
• Strong communication skills with an ability to adapt tone and style to a variety of audiences
