School of Continuing & Professional Studies (SCPS) Part-Time College Assistant Evening and/or Saturday included Performs the clerical and daily office operations of programs administered by the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at CUNY on the Concourse (COTC) as assigned, the College Assistant will report to the Director or Office Manager and performs duties for SCPS Continuing Education Program. Work Tasks Under supervision, performs office or secretarial work following relevant departmental, College, and University procedures as outlined below.
• Assists in support of COTC clerical and daily office operations.
• Provides information to faculty, students, employees, and the public.
• Answers telephone calls.
• Responds in a timely manner to in-person, online and telephone inquiries.
• Furnishes information on the department’s rules and regulations.
• Creates, maintains and tracks attendance and sign-in forms.
• Assists students with online registration via the school’s online registration system.
• Gets certified through eLearning modules of various test center applications. Obtains the test center certification. Assists the Primary Test Center Administrator during testing sessions.
• Assists with maintaining social media platforms and websites.
• Provides remote tech support to students and faculty during remote or hybrid classes. Schedule Hybrid position (In-Person, at CUNY on Concourse, 2501 Grand Concourse, Bronx, 2-3 evenings, 5-9pm, or daytime, and online remote work on 1-2 Evenings and Saturdays). Qualifications
• Associate degree preferred: 2 years of relevant experience.
• Bilingual: English and Spanish preferred. Required Knowledge • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly.
• Highly proficient with MS Office Applications.
• Highly proficient with Zoom, MS Teams, Google Classroom, and other remote instruction software.
• Self-directed and willing to take initiative.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
• Provide quality customer service. Other Work Requirements
• There is often a substantial amount of time spent answering the telephone, making telephone calls, engaging in work-related telephone calls, and handling telephone messages.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including Evenings and Saturdays.
